Syracuse escapes again–while UNC, Duke, and Florida come up huge

Big day in college hoops, as Syracuse survives a major scare against North Carolina State with C.J. Fair hitting a driving layup with 7 seconds to play.  The 56-55 final makes the Orange 25-0 on the season.

Meanwhile, Duke won the final ever battle against Maryland as ACC foes and Florida dominated Kentucky in the final six minutes going away at Rupp Arena 69-59.  Pittsburgh continues to miss a golden opportunity for a signature win coming up short at North Carolina.   James Michael McAddoo played a great overall game with 24 points and 12 rebounds in the win.

Vanderbilt and UConn both needed overtime to win over Texas A&M and Memphis respectively, while Cincinnati used a 13-5 run to upend Houston 73-62.

Sunday’s key games include Wisconsin at Michigan on CBS at 1 p.m. Eastern; SMU in their first week ranked in the Top 25 since the 1984-85 season makes up their snowed out game at Temple one hour later.  But the game of the day is in the Big East as Villanova looks to settle a score at Creighton on Fox Sports 1 shortly after 5 p.m.
