2005 Tournament Redux, Orange Crush Comes Back Big Time

It looked like a runaway just steps away from the United States’ busiest airport at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago.

But Bruce Weber and the top seed that year in Illinois was cooking up a master plan on this particular Saturday night in a titanic Elite Eight battle.

Would Illinois ride their true Orange Crush and nearly 18,000 screaming fans, or would Arizona appear not to be as red faced as they would be during the 2014 and 2015 Elite Eight?

Stick around and find out:

As we all remember, Illinois came oh so close to winning their first ever title eight nights later–but they fell a few points short to Tournament MOP Sean May and the North Carolina Tar Heels at the Trans World Dome in St. Louis.

I hope that you enjoyed my look back at some fun NCAA Tournament games from days gone by.  I will return again sometime later this month with some more schedule releases and any other blog worthy news in the world of men’s college basketball which might be blog worthy to share.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July holiday weekend!
