Louisville self-imposes ban for NCAA, ACC Tournaments

On Friday morning, CBSSports.com, ESPN, and many more media outlets reported that the University of Louisville will not be participating in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

Please keep in mind, the investigation about players having sex on recruiting visits stemming from 2010 to 2014 is not over.

But what I can say is your heart goes out to the two fifth-year seniors, Damion Lee and Trey Lewis who entered the program just this past summer.

This decision affects many young men’s lives.  Since it has been three years removed from their last national championship, even famous alumni like Muhammad Ali (the former Cassius Clay) are in full support of the decision.

The news came two days after the Cards’ most impressive victory of the season, halting North Carolina’s win streak 71-65 to go to 18-4 for the year.

But come March 5 when they play at Virginia, that’s it.

Louisville joins these other schools that are ineligible for the 2016 NCAA Tournament:

SMU
Cal State Northridge
Missouri
Southern Mississippi
Pacific
