With limited practice time and having only three hours to get to the Verizon Center after their flight on Wednesday was canceled due to high winds, the Michigan Wolverines played like a team that was playing to win instead of not to lose.
Albeit they were lacking style points in the fashion world wearing their practice jerseys since ESPN reported on their tickers Thursday afternoon that their regular jerseys were still stuck on the plane, they still throttled Illinois 71-51 in what was more than likely the last game for Head Coach John Groce.
For Michigan Head Coach Jon Beilien, he made some unique history by passing Johnny Orr with his 210th win as coach in Ann Arbor–the most wins by any men’s basketball coach in the history of Michigan.
Next up for the Wolverines, a rematch with Purdue in a game that they won a few weeks ago at Crisler Arena.
Otherwise, in the ACC Tournament–it will be North Carolina against Duke again after the Tar Heels destroyed Miami in the second half to the tune of a 78-53 whipping. Meanwhile, Duke barely squeezed by Louisville 81-77.
And another big upset happened in Kansas City at the Big 12 Tournament.
More on that shortly.
