Rhode Island steals bid in Atlantic 10

Rhode Island rode some hot shooting outside the arc and VCU could not keep up as the Rams steal a bid in the Atlantic 10 Championship game winning 70-63.  The combination of Jared Terrell and E.C. Matthews combined for 39 points (20 and 19, respectively).  The both managed to hit six of the team’s 8 treys on the day.  With another bid stolen, the proverbial bubble continues to shrink for the likes of Vanderbilt and Kansas State.

Across the other end of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Princeton kept their unbeaten Ivy League run alive beating out the 3 seed of Yale 71-59.  The Tigers earned their 25th bid to the Big Dance, but their last Ivy League crown came under the old format in 2011.

In the SEC, Kentucky will again (yawn) over Arkansas in Nashville.

Two more games left, and we will all find out together if Michigan keeps their dream alive for one more day against the second seeded Badgers from Wisconsin.  Keep in mind, no 8 seed has ever won the Big Ten Tournament–unlike Duke on Saturday night when they became the first ever 5 seed to win the ACC Tournament.

See you all later tonight with my brief blog and lengthy podcast discussing all things brackets.
